I planned to write a book called Cloud Native1 Primer last year. O’Reilly declined the proposal because they preferred deep dives into specific topics rather than a broad overview. And they were right.

I intended to self-publish it, as I did with Understand Containers.

But with the advancements in large language models (LLMs), I no longer think it’s worthwhile to write it. Actually, I feel most technical books and blogs are not worth writing (and reading2) in the LLM era. People can learn much more3 effectively using LLMs.

So, this is my wrap-up for the will-never-be-finished Cloud Native Primer.

  1. If you think of Lambda or ECS when hearing about Cloud Native, we are not same people but still can be friends.

  2. You should read AI-Engineering

  3. 10x from my experience.
